Before we begin, I’ll assume that you already have registered your domain name and you have also bought your hosting. In case you haven’t, Please Register your domain name first (click here to see how) and purchase web hosting (click here to see how).
Let’s begin, First, you’ll need to change your DNS from your NameCheap account and point it to siteground. Here’s how to do exactly that.
Step 1: Login to NameCheap
Simply Login to your NameCheap account, then click on “domain list” from side navigation and click Manage as shown in the image below.
Step 2: Change DNS
As highlighted in the Image above, In the Nameservers field, first choose Custom DNS from the drop down and enter your DNS code. Chances are your DNS code is same as the following:
But just to confirm your’s is correct, simply check your email, if you’ve bought hosting only, you’ll definitely receive your DNS code, simply enter it in the fields. Or you can also check your DNS code by Logging in to your Siteground account. Then going to My Accounts > Go to cPanel and there you’ll find your DNS in the Top Left corner.
That’s all you’ll have to do in NameCheap. Simply save it and you can Log out from there.
Let’s Install WordPress.
Now that you’ve changed your DNS and pointed it to SiteGround, It means that your Domain Name and Hosting is connected and you can begin on doing important things.
Luckily Installing WordPress is extremely easy and just takes less than 5 minutes. Simply Follow the steps given below and you’ll be good to go.
Step 1: Login to Siteground
Click here to login to SiteGround. After you log in click on My Account from the Top Navigation as shown in the image below.
Step 2: Go to cPanel
Next step is to Go to cPanel, just click on the button as shown in the Image below.
Once you’re in your cPanel, Under WordPress tools, click on “WordPress Installer” as shown in the image below.
After that, click on Install (see the image below)
Step 3: Enter your details
In this step, you’ll simply fill out some fields.
Choose Protocol: Here you’ll choose https because it’s more secure and now a Google ranking factor.
Choose Domain: Here you’ll choose your domain name.
and leave the in Directory empty. DO NOT write anything in it.
Site Settings: Here you’ll enter your website name and tagline. You can always change this inside in WordPress.
Here you’ll enter the username of your choice and set a password for your WordPress account and enter your email to receive any updates from WordPress.
Here you’ll Choose your Language.
The only thing here to change is Limit Login Attempt. Simply, tick it. It will block spammers who might try to log in to your account.
After all, this, click on Install as shown in the image above.
And that’s it. Congrats, you’ve successfully Installed WordPress.
Now to Login, you’ll need to go to the following URL:
whatever your domain is, simply add “/wp-admin” after that and you’ll see your Login screen.
Enter your username and password and click on Log In. And you’ll be logged in to your Dashboard which will look something like the image below.
Great job! you are now off to races. Now you have endless possibilities to build your website.
